    Another very good Winter lawn care tip is to make sure to mow your lawn towards the end of the fall. Generally, you will want to mow your lawn right before or right after Thanksgiving. Mowing your lawn before winter starts will help your grass to stay a little thicker. If your grass is too long, it will become sparse during the winter because it will not get enough sunlight. Lawns  do better over the winter if they get mowed.

    Winter is not only a good time to keep your grass a little shorter than you’re used to calm but is also the best time of year to do your pruning and your cleanup. As long as you do a good job cleaning up your lawn, it should have no problem coming back and looking good next year.

      Love the website it’s given me great advice! Unfortunately having just moved house and finally got round to the garden ,after mowing I noticed a lot of thick rooted weeds (kind of thick bamboo), wondered what the best approach was to getting rid of these? Xx

        Hi Gayle,
        I think I know want weeds you are talking about. They spread quickly and are hard to get rid of. If you don’t have a lot use a small shovel or spade. This is the fastest way to do it. If you have tons of them, try putting round up on the weeds and then starting over. Best luck to you Gayle and thanks for visiting!
